Newcastle United right-back Emil Krafth has taken to Instagram to confirm that he will be sidelined for “several months with a knee injury” having been forced off of the pitch on Wednesday night in the Magpies’ 2-1 Carabao Cup win at Tranmere Rovers.
It had been the defender’s first start of the season, having been brought on in the latter stages of Newcastle’s 3-3 draw with Manchester City in the Premier League just three days prior.
It’s a major blow for Eddie Howe’s side who will have to hope that Kieran Trippier is fit for as long as possible with Javier Manquillo now their only cover for the Englishman.

The Swede posted on his official account the following:
“Hard to find words and still can’t believe it, this was not the way I wanted the season to start! Gonna be out for several months with a knee injury.
“Devastated I can’t be out there and help the team, but I will do my best to push the lads to reach success! One thing I know is that the sun will rise tomorrow again and I will work extremely hard to get back as soon as possible!
“Thanks for all the messages and love you all have giving me. See you soon back out there!”
