Staff at a Gosforth restaurant were left delighted when Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe arrived to celebrate a year in the job this week.
Since Eddie took over at St James' Park, the team have undergone a transformation, with them now up to the dizzy heights of third in the Premier League table, after an emphatic 4-1 away win at Southampton at the weekend and just being beaten once this season and in rather controversial circumstances, by Liverpool.
After making the long trip back to Tyneside from the south coast, 'the gaffa' marked a year as Magpies manager with a meal at Miller & Carter. And the restaurant were quick to share Eddie's visit to the Gosforth Park haunt, posting a picture of him on their Facebook and Instagram pages and writing: "We are completely honoured @nufc Manager Eddie Howe chose to celebrate his first year as Toon boss with us at @millerandcartergosforth."

One customer, who was there at the same time as the NUFC manager, commented: "We were there too! Great place. Congratulations!" Reacting on Instagram, one follower wrote: "Howay the Toon! Great pic," while another posted: "I hope he comes on Christmas."
After the massive win at the weekend, things were a lot more tense for Eddie and a significantly changed United team at St James' on Wednesday night, as they took on Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. After a nervy 90 minutes for a crowd of over 51,000, there was more celebrating to be done under the famous lights, as Newcastle won 3-2 on penalties.
