Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has been backed into second favourite to replace under pressure England boss Gareth Southgate by bookmakers.
The Three Lions boss has endured sustained levels of scrutiny over the past few weeks, after a disappointing UEFA Nations League campaign that saw his side twice beaten by Hungary.
Hammered 4-0 by the Magyars at Moilneux on Tuesday night, Manchester City defender John Stones was also sent off with some suggesting fatigue may have been an issue for England's poor display overall.

But according to odds provided by Betfair, Howe is second favourite to take the job at 5/1, behind current pacesetter - Brighton manager Graham Potter - who leads the way at just 3/1.
Other contenders include Frank Lampard (10/1), Mauricio Pochettino (10/1) and Steven Gerrard (10/1), with Southgate's tactics again called into question by sections of the media.
Howe, of course, has enjoyed a superb start to life at St James' Park thus far, steering the Magpies clear of any lingering relegation woes with a superb second-half-of-the-season turnaround, which saw his team finish in an impressive 11th placed position.
With summer targets set and expectation levels raised, the former Cherries boss has previously been linked with taking on the England job due to his good work with Bournemouth.
But with Southgate's contract with the national side not due to expire until December of 2024, some have suggested the FA would be foolish to dismiss the 51-year-old just months before a major tournament.
