Eddie Howe has dismissed any talk of Newcastle United signing Ronaldo next season - after widespread reports of the ex-Manchester United star having a clause in his contract to join the Magpies.
A big claim in Spanish outlet Marca last night suggested that Ronaldo could leave his new club Al Nassr if Newcastle qualified for the Champions League due to links with PIF. As reported on Chronicle Live today the claims were knocked back by United chiefs.
And Howe has now spoken on the issue, saying: "We wish Cristiano all the best in his venture but from our point of view there's no truth in that."

Ronaldo himself said today at his unveiling in Saudi Arabia: "As nobody knows, I can say now I had many opportunities in Europe, many clubs in Brazil, Australia, the US, even in Portugal, many clubs tried to sign me.
"I won everything, I played for the most important clubs in Europe and now it is a new challenge in Asia."
Newcastle have been continuously linked with Ronaldo since the takeover in autumn 2021. But Howe has stated he wants fresh younger talent such as Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes to drive his bid for success on Tyneside.
