Newcastle United announce new contract for defender during stay in Portugal

Newcastle United defender Emil Krafth has signed a one-year extension at St James' Park.

The Sweden international provides quality competition for Kieran Trippier and enjoyed a good end to last season when covering for the England star. Krafth deal was struck during the team's stay in Portugal.

Krafth is now contracted until 2024 and is delighted with the new arrangement. The defender told the club's TV channel: "I'm very, very happy to extend my contract here - me and my family love to live here - and continue with the journey we started with the club. I'm really looking forward to the future at the club."
