Newcastle transfers state of play: Joao Pedro "mystified" by transfer block as United try again

Newcastle United have not given up hope on signing Joao Pedro from Championship outfit Watford.

The Magpies saw an initial £20million offer for the Brazilian youngster turned down - much to the frustration to the 20-year-old who is keen to team up with fellow countrymen Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes. Indeed, Pedro's representatives are somewhat mystified by Watford's response to Newcastle 's huge bid.

Not least because a similar fee was accepted only days ago for Emmanuel Dennis who signed for Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest. United are expected to up their bid for Pedro to see whether Watford have a tipping point on the player they have so far vowed not to sell.
