Everton are determined to hold on to Anthony Gordon - despite firm interest from Newcastle United.
The Everton midfielder has three years left to run on his contract but Frank Lampard is determined not to lose the 21-year-old. The Toffees are showing resolve on their local lad Gordon being touted for summer moves but Chronicle Live understands that Tottenham Hotspur were told in no uncertain terms that the star wouldn't be leaving for North London.
We also understand that Everton's stance on Gordon leaving last week was scored at zero per cent by club chiefs when Spurs came calling and the Merseyside club's initial response has been exactly the same in that they don't want to give him up.
Whether Newcastle are prepared to put in an astronomical offer remains to be seen. Our understanding is that Newcastle are yet to table a bid - despite talk of a £35million deal today.
Having already watched on as Richarlison was sold to Tottenham for £60million, Lampard and Everton can ill afford to be seen parting company with another Gwladys Street end favourite. Unique Sports Management are running the show for Gordon and are monitoring developments across a competitive summer window.
The left-winger has no escape clauses at Everton and the Toffees have full control over whatever fee they wish to demand for his services. Gordon played the full season for the Toffees and helped keep them up, but it was only his first full season as a senior.
