Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.
Todibo watched?
A new central defender is said to be on Newcastle United's transfer shortlist this summer, and Jean-Clair Todibo is a new name to throw into the mix. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Magpies scouts along with Liverpool and Manchester United were in attendance to watch the defender in action during Nice's 2-1 victory over Rennes on May 6.
The cente-back has been in fine form in Ligue 1, and has inevitably been linked with a host of Europe's elite ahead of the upcoming window. Competition and a long-term replacement for Fabian Schar could be on the cards for the Magpies, and the 23-year-old could reportedly be available for a fee in the region of £39 million.
However, Newcastle should expect stiff competition for Todibo if they opt to make a move. Harry Maguire's struggles this season could see the Red Devils look to invest in a central defender, while the Nice star seemingly could be targeted as part of the rebuild at Liverpool this summer.

Milinkovic-Savic price tag
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has repeatedly been linked with Newcastle since the protracted takeover saga was concluded in October 2021. The Serbia international has long been tipped to move to the Premier League, and could find himself on the market this summer as he comes to the end of his eighth season with Lazio.
Milinkovic-Savic is set to enter the final year of his contract, but Italian outlet Gazzetta via Calciomercato claim the Serie A side will not contemplate a sale below £35m. The 28-year-old's contract status could alert a host of clubs to his availability, with Arsenal, Manchester United and PSG said to hold long-standing interest in the midfielder.
Milinkovic-Savic has registered eight goals and eight assists in all competitions. However, when it comes to central midfielders, recent reports suggest Newcastle are currently looking at recruiting a 'number six' rather than another offensively-minded player.
