Newcastle transfer rumours as Italian club hopes Magpies trigger bidding war

Italian club hopes Magpies trigger bidding war

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle are one of the clubs tracking Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani, as Eddie Howe hopes to continue improving his midfield options. However, the reports also note that Empoli are 'hoping that a bidding war will break out', thanks to multiple clubs being interested in the 20-year-old.

Inter are said to be particularly keen on the player but Empoli appear to be using Newcastle's interest as a way of pushing the price up, knowing the spending power of the new ownership. They say that Newcastle have "recently come forward with interest."

A Uruguayan journalist has claimed that the two clubs are 'fighting' for the striker. He also claims that the Portuguese club are looking for a bid of at least €100million before they will let their star player go.

Everton 'playing hardball' over Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Another striker which has been linked to the club recently is Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Thanks to FFP issues, the Toffees appear to need to make a major sale, but Brazilian forward Richarlison appears to be the most likely to go, allowing Frank Lampard's side to 'play hardball' over Calvert-Lewin.

According to Caught Offside, Everton would be reluctant to see their star striker join a 'rival' club, preferring to sell him to a team higher up the table if forced to let him leave.
