Newcastle transfer gossip with rival Marcus Thuram interest amid Jack Harrison claim

Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

Thuram latest

The future of Marcus Thuram has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with Newcastle United among the clubs credited with an interest. The France international looks set to become a free agent in the summer, with his contract set to expire at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Magpies continue to be linked with attacking reinforcements, despite the club-record arrival of Alexander Isak in the summer. However, any move for Thuram could be rivalled by approaches from Serie A giants Inter Milan and Napoli.

That is according to Corriere dello Sport via Inside Futbol, with the latter looking at a summer move. Inter Milan are reportedly mulling over a cut-price January deal, with Bayern Munich also linked.

Trossard claim

In addition to Thuram, Jack Harrison and Leandro Trossard are among the other attackers linked in recent months with St James' Park. Newcastle were said to have been rebuffed with a summer approach for the former, with Leeds United keen to keep the winger having already sold Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

Both attackers remain on the Magpies radar, according to TEAMtalk. However, Howe is said to prefer a move for Trossard, with the Belgian international enjoying an impressive start to the season with Brighton.

The Seagulls hold an option to extend the 27-year-old's contract by a further year, but are seemingly braced for approaches from Premier League rivals. Chelsea boss Graham Potter is reportedly keen on reuniting with Trossard at Stamford Bridge.
