Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.
Moura 'approach'
Club-record signing Alexander Isak is capable of playing through the middle and in a wide forward role. However, the Magpies were believed to still be in the market for another attacker in the final hours of the summer window.
Lucas Moura was a name linked on deadline day, with the Tottenham forward falling down the pecking order under Antonio Conte. The Brazil international was the subject of enquiries from both Newcastle and Aston Villa, only for both approaches to be rebuffed.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who insists negotiations over a potential exit for Moura never reached an 'advanced' stage. The 30-year-old has made just two late substitute appearances so far this season.
Gordon and Maddison
Eddie Howe admitted Newcastle's domestic rivals were reluctant to do business with the club over the summer window, with top targets Sven Botman and Alexander Isak both arriving from overseas. The Magpies were said to be some way apart in their valuations of the likes of Anthony Gordon, Jack Harrison and James Maddison.
Newcastle were not prepared to go above the market value for proven Premier League performers due to ongoing Financial Fair Play concerns. However, i News claim this summer stance will not prevent United from revisiting targets such as Gordon and Maddison.
Gordon was the subject of heavy interest from Chelsea late in the window and the England youth international was said to be keen on a move, but Everton stood firm. Maddison has entered the final two years of his contract at the King Power Stadium, and the Foxes have endured a miserable start to the season while also sanctioning the sale of Wesley Fofana.
