Newcastle transfer gossip as Magpies told £70m target 'prefers' top four rivals for summer move

Here are the Newcastle United transfer rumours and gossip on Friday, December 30.

Newcastle United told £70m Serie A target 'prefers' top four rivals for summer move

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic would reportedly be more tempted by a move to Chelsea or Manchester United rather than their Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

The 22-year-old burst onto the European stage after scoring 38 goals across his last 58 Serie A games for Fiorentina before a £70m move to Turin last season where he's netted 16 in 36 matches.

According to Italian sports outlet Calciomercatoweb, Vlahovic's future with the Serie A giants 'is anything but obvious' and name the Magpies as 'the club to give it a try'.

However, St. James' Park isn't a destination 'that convinces' the 22-year-old, as he'd rather 'wait for offers from more famous clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United'.

The star has also been a long-term target of league leaders Arsenal, with the Serbian set to 'say goodbye' [to Juventus] only a year and a half after his arrival.

Newcastle United 'prime January target's' agent reveals contract proposal

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho's agent has confirmed the London club have offered him a new deal to keep him on at the club after rumours swirled that Eddie Howe and Newcastle United had made him their 'priority target' for the January transfer window.

The 31-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge back in 2018 under Maurizio Sarri and has been vital to their recent success - having been their top goalscorer in the 2020/21 season.

With just six months left on his contract with the Blues, his agent Joao Santos told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato that they're willing to renew his current deal.

"Jorginho’s contract expires on 30th June and we have a renewal proposal and we will give priority to Chelsea."

Newcastle dealt added Mykhailo Mudryk blow days after star dropped Arsenal transfer hint

Newcastle United are hoping stop Arsenal in their quest to win the Premier League title but look powerless when it comes to denying the Gunners from signing transfer target Mykhailo Mudryk. Both English clubs have been heavily linked with the Shakhtar Donetsk forward, 21, in recent months after his breakout year in his native country.

Mudryk has caught the eye of many top teams around Europe after performances both at home and in the Champions League, with Arsenal currently leading the chase as they look to strengthen their squad next month. Speaking on Wednesday, Shakhtar chief Sergei Palkin confirmed Mikel Arteta's side were already in talks over a January move.

"Negotiations are continuing. We receive offers, but they are not the ones we would like to see on our table," Palkin told the club's official website. "Now, literally in 5 minutes, I will have a phone conversation with Arsenal.
