Newcastle United supporters have wished Jeff Hendrick luck with his season-long loan move to Championship side Reading. The Magpies midfielder has found regular game time hard to come by after the arrival of Eddie Howe and spent the second half of last term on loan with Queens Park Rangers, where he made ten appearances in the Championship.
Hendrick has made 27 appearances in the black and white shirt of Newcastle since joining the club from Burnley in August 2020, scoring three times. He was one of four first team players ordered to train with the reserves after being told he has no part to play in Howe's plans.
Ciaran Clark, Dwight Gayle and Matty Longstaff were the other trio, although the latter of the three played against Gateshead FC in their first pre-season fixture. Clark is being linked with a loan move to Sheffield United while Gayle has been touted for a move to Middlesbrough.

It's the first real opportunity the Magpies have had to move on fringe players as they look to improve the quality in their squad. Here's what Newcastle United supporters had to say about Hendrick's departure:
@benharwood06 said: "Not quite up to scratch for us now but wants to go and get game time so fair play to him."
@F_R_A_N_K_I_E_9 tweeted: "Full respect to this man, he may not have been the greatest of signings for us but he wants to play football instead of sitting on his wages. Best of luck Jeff Hendrick."
@TomCutter10 said: "Glad we are getting people out the door. I want news on incomings."
@Yoni50347001 said: "He was once our top scoring midfielder for the first half of last season and for 2020/21. He wasn’t amazing but he had his moments from time to time. Good luck Jeff."
@Angel_Batistuta tweeted: "Got no hate for any of these lads that are leaving, but it is pretty ridiculous some of the contracts the previous regime dished out, both in terms of length and wage."
