Newcastle’s popular leisure destination Stack is set to make a welcome return in a new location, following plans revealed today.
Fans of the shopping container village were left devastated in May when it closed in Pilgrim Street to make way for the new HMRC offices, bringing to an end more than four years of fun, food and independent shopping. Now developer Danieli Group has revealed plans for a new pop-up Stack which will be in place for a year, if proposals submitted to Newcastle City Council are approved.
The company aims to bring the container destination venue to the Stephenson Quarter, behind Central Station and next to the Crown Plaza Hotel, and hopes it will be up and running in time for Christmas. If given the go-ahead the site will also be home to the popular Hadrian’s Tipi over the festive season which has become a mainstay of Newcastle city centre’s Christmas programme in recent years.
