New Newcastle United signing Sven Botman has said that Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk is among his favourite defenders

Van Dijk has been a revelation on Merseyside since joining in 2018 and has established himself as not only one of the best defenders in the Premier League but in world football. With the Dutch international in the backline, Jurgen Klopp's side have won every domestic and European cup competition available to them.

Van Dijk missed the majority of last season with a knee injury and the Reds had one of their worst campaigns under Klopp. But his return to the starting line-up in the 2021/22 season culminated in Liverpool clinching the FA Cup, Carabao Cup while reaching the UEFA Champions League final and taking the Premier League title race to the final day of the season.
