Newcastle's Nick Pope explains heart-warming 'bromance' with Bruno Guimaraes after World Cup gift

Nick Pope says Bruno Guimaraes was someone who helped him settle in at St. James' Park after signing for Newcastle United in the summer. The Magpies duo have played a big part in the renaissance on Tyneside, with Eddie Howe's men currently sat in third place heading into the World Cup.

For the Brazilian playmaker, the tournament will be extra special following the birth of his son Matteo. Pope bought his teammate a World Cup notebook with 'My World Cup Memories Matteo' written on the front.

It's another sign, if any were needed, of the camaraderie in the Newcastle dressing room at the moment. There's a tight nit group at St. James' Park with fans believing they can achieve something special this season.

"Bruno is just someone that, when I came to the club, was just really welcoming to me," Pope told talkSPORT. "He's just great in the dressing room in general but someone who, when I came to the club was really welcoming.

"Welcomed me into the dressing room and I suppose from my time at Burnley, when there was a new born, in the dressing room if you like, we'd get you a little gift for the new dads or the new family.

"That's just something I was used to doing I suppose and it's great to be able to give that to him before the World Cup for him and his family. Hopefully if our paths meet it'll be later down the line."

The pair have also shared a brilliant moment outside of the changing rooms at St. James' Park earlier this season, while Guiamraes has dubbed Pope his hero following the win over Tottenham Hotspur.
