An Americana-style rock 'n' roll cocktail bar which has been taking shape in Newcastle has now announced its opening date which it will celebrate with a huge party and boozy giveaways.
MOJO will launch at The Gate in the city's Newgate Street in grand style on April 7. And free drinks and signature cocktals will be served at the opening night party which will start at 7pm, with giveaways available until midnight and bar staying open until 2am. The opening news comes after plans were revealed earlier this year for the bar which is known for its cocktails, classic American food menu and stomping music.

The company now reveals that it will be offering a mammoth cocktail list of more than 120 varieties to city customers alongside a playlist of music from the past 50 years. Those keen to be among the first to visit can sign up to its website and download a MOJO Pass giving free entry to the launch party night and some of those free drinks.
MOJO is bringing new life to an empty site, previously occupied by TGI Friday’s, in The Gate, following a £750,000 transformation that now sees a bar stretch the length of the ground floor, and as an all-day hang-out it is preparing to offer all sorts of extra attractions including shuffleboard tables, beer pong, cocktail masterclasses and bottomless brunch.
Its food menu will range from snacks such as chicken wings and loaded fries to its Dirty Smash Burgers and hand-stretched pizzas and there will be a £12 meal deal offer on match days. Sweet options will include waffles and pancakes. Vegan options will be available too.
The Newcastle branch - which sees MOJO join neighbouring bars such as The Mayfair, The Hustle, The WonderBar, Wetherspoon and The Lofts night club - is the bar group's seventh site, following openings in cities such as Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield and Leeds, and the company clearly knows how to party having hosted events for the Iikes of the Foo Fighters, Elbow and even the cast of Captain America.
MOJO managing director Martin Greenhow said: “Newcastle is a fun, exciting and vibrant city and we cannot wait to open our doors here with one of the biggest launch parties we’ve thrown to date. Our ethos is around bringing music for the people, food for the soul and good times forever and we hope to deliver that to the people of Newcastle from April 7."
He added: You’re in for a rock n’ roll treat.” For a chance to join Newcastle's party, sign up for a MOJO Pass here. Following its launch, the bar will be open daily from noon until 2am.
