Kieran Trippier admits Newcastle United must be 'prepared' for rivals hoping to frustrate them at St James' Park out of 'respect' for the Magpies form. Eddie Howe's side earned a narrow home win over Bournemouth on Tuesday night to book their place in the last eight of the Carabao Cup.
Adam Smith's second-half own goal settled the tie as the Cherries became the latest team bidding to disrupt Newcastle's momentum. Liverpool and Manchester City are the only sides to pick up wins on Tyneside since Howe's appointment last November.
Bournemouth are the last side to leave St James' Park without tasting defeat, having ground out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League clash in September. Alexander Isak netted his first home goal in black-and-white from the penalty spot, five minutes after Philip Billing opened the scoring.

Gary O'Neil's side arrived for the fourth-round cup tie with a similar gameplan, but saw Nick Pope make two fine saves to deny Jack Stacey and Dominic Solanke a late equaliser. Trippier accepts it is a challenge the in-form Magpies are now going to have to be 'prepared' for on a regular basis, and admits it is an approach he is familiar with from his time at Atletico Madrid.
When asked if the latest encounter with Bournemouth felt like 'deja vu', the full-back told NUFC TV: "Yeah, because [in] the first five minutes the 'keeper goes down last time. In the space of 20 minutes, they went down five times.
"But it's game-management, I understand it. I've done it myself sometimes when I was at Atletico Madrid, but this is football. We have to be prepared for that because we're going to get more of it."
Newcastle themselves were recently likened to Diego Simeone's side by Jamie Carragher after grinding out a home win over Chelsea in their last Premier League outing. The Magpies frustrated the Blues in the closing stages with a number of heavy challenges and time-wasting endeavours, leading to feisty scenes after the full-time whistle.
But in this latest instance, the shoe was on the other foot as Howe's side had to find a way through another low-block defence. Trippier added: "Teams are going to come here now and try to frustrate us because we're doing well and we deserve that respect now.
"Teams are going to come here and sit in a low block and try to kill time. We've just got to be mentally prepared for that and be patient."
