Newcastle property development and investment business Adderstone Group has secured planning permission for 16 luxury apartments in Gateshead.
The company is set to create the new development on Anderson Green in Low Fell, on what is currently a vacant site adjacent to Saltwell Business Park.
The project involves the conversion of the Grade II listed former open-air school at the junction of Durham Road and Joicey Road in Gateshead.

The school was originally built in 1936 to care for pupils with asthma and tuberculosis.
The buildings had become derelict and sat empty for more than a decade prior to Adderstone Group converting them into a bustling hub in 2011. The park is now home to several small and medium-sized businesses, a nursery and a dance school.
The new residential scheme, designed by Ryder Architecture, will see the creation of 16 apartments with open plan living spaces facing a landscaped green, surrounded by trees.
The ground floor units will open onto private external areas, and the upper units will have balconies and private terraces.
Nelson Carr, development manager at Adderstone Group, said: “It’s never easy to secure planning consent for a new development within the curtilage of a listed building.
"Our vision was for these beautiful new homes to sit perfectly alongside the eclectic mix of existing occupiers, making for an exemplary mixed-use community. This consent should enable us to realise this vision.”
