Thousands gathered at Newcastle Racecourse to see the annual fireworks display were certainly given a night to remember.
Around 5,000 people turned out to see the stunning spectacle, choreographed to music that lit up the clear night sky over High Gosforth Park on Friday November 4.
The display, which is now in its fifth year, has become a hugely popular event for families, offering crowds an action-packed night of horse racing as well as a range of entertainment for youngsters.
Those who braved the chilly temperatures were also able to enjoy funfair and activities such as face painting. Entertainment included music from a DJ and performances from fire breathers who also delighted visitors.
Paul Elliott, executive director of Newcastle Racecourse, said: “We [have been] really looking forward to hosting the fireworks and funfair race night. This was the fifth year we have hosted the event and we [had] a crowd in excess of 5,000. The day began with eight competitive races and a funfair suitable for the whole family, followed by one of the biggest and best fireworks displays in the region.”
