A Newcastle pub has launched a unique open-air cinema that gives film fans the chance to watch free movies every day.
City Tavern on Northumberland Road has opened a cinema in the garden of the venue that will show everything from Paddington and Gone Girl to Blade Runner and Taxi Driver.
Partly undercover and party open-air, Cinema Paradiso is tucked away in the narrow ginnel which wraps around the pub. With room for 100 people, the cinema will show three screenings of a different, cult classic film every day free of charge.

And customers can choose food from the pub's extensive menu, which ranges from burgers to sharing plates, to enjoy during the screening. The cinema can also be privately hired and is linked to a first-floor function space by a "secret" staircase.
Owner David King said: "We’ve already hosted a number of private screenings.
“It’s a great venue for group booking and parties because they can have sole use of the first-floor space and the cinema – they just let us know which film they’d like to see and we arrange the rest.”
Screenings are daily at 2pm, 5pm, and 8pm, and full listings can be found on Facebook at "citytavernnewcastle" and on Instagram at "citytavernncl."
