After Pride was thwarted for two summers in a row by the coronavirus pandemic, it's coming back in a big way in Newcastle this weekend as the city hosts UK Pride celebrations.
Northern Pride were announced as the hosts for UK Pride back in 2018, after a successful bid, but plans to stage the event in 2020 were postponed as the country went into lockdown, with restrictions also forcing Pride to be shelved last year too. But, after having no Newcastle Pride for three years, it's returned in fine fashion across the city and at the Town Moor, the home to this year's festival.
Proceedings got off to a fabulous start on Friday night, when Todrick Hall headlined the Launch Party, which also featured appearances from Jodie Harsh and Katy B. The huge Pride march kick started things on Saturday, as a large crowd of people flocked to the city centre. The parade made its way up to the Moor, where numerous stages of entertainment awaited revellers, as well as themed community zones and a funfair.
