Newcastle offer exciting behind the scenes glimpse of what awaits players at Wembley

There is just one last sleep for the Toon Army as Newcastle United prepare for their first cup final in almost three decades. Eddie Howe's side will look to end a 54-year trophy drought when they face Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday afternoon.

Thousands of the Toon Army have already descended upon Trafalgar Square to celebrate in the build-up to the showpiece occasion. It is the Magpies' first visit to Wembley for a domestic final since 1999, when they tasted defeat against the treble-winning Red Devils.

Howe has been keen to stress it will be business as usual for his team, despite the magnitude of the match facing them. Silverware at this early stage of the exciting post-takeover rebuild would be beyond expectations of even the most ambitious supporter, with the Magpies locked in a relegation battle at this stage of last season.

Newcastle have arrived in the capital ahead of the Wembley showdown against the Premier League's in-form side. Erik ten Hag's side have lost just once since the World Cup break, and carry momentum after knocking Barcelona out of the Europa League.

Nerves and excitment are likely reaching fever pitch for Magpies supporters, and this will have only been heightened by the club's social media post on Saturday night. Newcastle have shared a snapshot of the dressing room awaiting the squad for the final, emblazoned with the club's crest.

It was a picture which inevitably generated excitement among supporters on social media, in addition to the scenes already witnessed at Trafalgar Square. In less than 24 hours, it could be the scene of the most important dressing room celebration shot of Howe's short reign so far.

One fan wrote: "Oh my days !!! Love it !! Howay the lads." Another supporter replied: "Looks like a BDB dance floor to me."
