There is now just a week to go until the red carpet is rolled out for the Newcastle Loves Awards 2022, as venues from all over the city battle it out across 12 different categories.
When ChronicleLIve first launched Newcastle Loves back in 2019, it was with a firm view to making it an annual event but unfortunately Covid had other ideas. However, we are now delighted to be bringing the awards back this year to celebrate and honour all the hard work and highlights of those involved in the city's still thriving hospitality and leisure sector.
In recognition of just how tough the last few years have been for everyone, we created a new category for this year - Covid Success Story - along with a few other newcomers to the prize list: Best LGBTQ+ Venue, in the aftermath of Northern Pride hosting a hugely successful UK Pride weekend at the end of last month; Best Outdoor Space, to reflect those venues who gave us somewhere to go where restrictions prohibited any drinking or eating inside and have thrived ever since and Best Sunday Dinner, because we all know that's the most important dinner of the week!

Amongst the other Newcastle Loves awards being handed out at The Lofts in the city centre on Wednesday, August 10 , after over 33,000 votes were cast, are Best Bar, Best Pub, Best Restaurant and Best Late Night Venue and there may be one or to surprises too.
As well as former Miss Newcastle champion and Capital North East breakfast presenter Hannah Gray being main host for the evening, a whole host of guests will be at The Lofts to hand out the individual honours, including BBC Radio Newcastle's weekend presenter Kelly Scott, X Factor contestant turned Capital Drivetime host Sam Lavery and Geordie Shore's Ricci Guarnaccio, who has just released summer anthem Gotta Let You Go.
There will also be two guest performers on the night, fantastic local singers Geoff Mull and Abi Garrido.
A full house is expected at The Lofts and we will be revealing the awards with live updates and photos across the night on ChronicleLIve.
