Newcastle United were hit with an early blow during their Friday night clash with Wolves after losing Ryan Fraser less than 15 minutes in. The Scotland winger chased down a ball in the early stages of the tie before appearing to pull up when it rolled out of play.
Fraser tried to shake the injury off for a few minutes before going down again and receiving assistance from the Newcastle medical team. But after again trying to play on, the ex-Bournemouth man hit the floor and asked to be replaced.
Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy were both sent to warm-up on the touchline before assistant manager Jason Tindall called the former back to receive instructions from Eddie Howe. Fraser looked distraught as he trudged off the pitch and straight down the tunnel with what appeared to be a knee problem.

The early substitution was an early blow for Newcastle who had been enjoying a lot of the ball in the opening 15 minutes. Fraser has been a regular feature in Newcastle's starting XI of late, enjoying a long period of games under Howe after ensuring he stayed fit. The attacker has struggled with injuries in the past and will be hopeful of a swift recovery.
Newcastle thought they had took the lead after Fraser's exit, with Chris Wood finding the back of the net. However, a VAR check found Bruno Guimaraes was offside in the build-up.
The Brazilian was marginally offside before he squared the ball to Wood who fumbled home.
