Newcastle United dominated possession and registered more than twice as many shots as Coventry City, yet suffered a humiliating 4-1 Premier League defeat against Frank Lampard's side on Monday, 12 October 2026, at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Despite controlling 67% of possession and attempting 19 shots compared with Coventry's nine, Newcastle managed just one goal. The result handed Lampard's newly promoted side their first Premier League home victory in more than 25 years and lifted them out of the relegation zone.
