Live theatre, music, comedy and cabaret will play out across Newcastle over 10 days this July as Newcastle Fringe Festival prepares to make a comeback in style.
From July 18-29, the festival will see what's billed as the best of the UK's touring performing arts scene perform in venues across the city and among the 40 artists taking part will be home-grown talent too, including comedian Lauren Pattison who last year was nominated for best show at Edinburgh Fringe.
She's actually now a two-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee and she will be performing her hit hour-long fringe show It Is What It Is on both July 27 and 28. Tickets will go on sale at 10.30am on Tuesday for all the shows which will include family-friendly options too.
Five venues are to host the programme, with shows being held daily except for Sunday and Monday, and locations range from Alphabetti Theatre - which also acts as festival hub - in the city centre to The Cumberland Arms pub in Ouseburn Valley. Organisers are promising a "vibrant and eclectic" programme ensuring something for all.

Alphabetti Theatre - Newcastle Fringe Festival hub - St James Boulevard, NE1 4HP
The city theatre will host daily show during the festival. Taking to the stage will be Catherine Scott, Laura Thurlow, Menstrual Rage, Luna Attic, Benny Shakes, Luke Connell, Amy Matthews, Lydia Brickland, Richard Pulsford, Daniel Nicholas, Sam Lake, Lauren Pattison, Sugar Punch, Harun Masho’d and Shannon Rewcroft.
Prohibition Cabaret Bar - 25-27 Pink Lane, NE1 5DW
Performing in the city centre bar between July 27 and 29 will be Taliraw, Whackadoo, Matt Hoss and Phil Green.
Seven Stories - 30 Lime Street, Newcastle, NE1 2PQ
Kitchen Zoo will be performing kids' show The Tortoise & the Hare at the national centre for children's books in the Ouseburn from July 18-20.
The Old Coal Yard - Elizabeth Street, NE6 1JS
The Northern Alchemy Brewery taproom and event space in the Ouseburn will play host on July 20, 21, 27 and 28t to a line-up of Ruby Shrimpton, Cambridge Footlights, PlastiQ, Bold Big Band, Calico Cats Cabaret, The Good Name Cabaret and Hannah Walker.
The Cumberland Arms - James Place Street, NE6 1LD
At this pub, also the Ouseburn, look out on July 18, 22 and 28 for the likes of Labyrinthine Oceans with support from Isabel Maria; Elaine Robertson, Brown Girls Write, Kyrstal Evans, Nicola Mantalios, Jodie Nicholson with support from Sara Leilah; Jenny Lascelles and Eleanor Conway.
Dates and tickets - the festival will run from July 18-22 and then from July 25-29. Tickets will go on sale on June 27 from 10.30am, costing £10 full-price and £5 concessions. There also will be 10 tickets available online per show for the price of £3 on a ‘no questions asked’ basis.
