Newcastle fans have been lauding over Joe Willock who prodded in his first goal of the season against West Ham to send the Magpies into the break level at 1-1.
The midfielder reacted to a Declan Rice mis-header to direct the ball off the far post and across the line, despite the best efforts of Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
Goal-line technology confirmed the ball had crossed the line, queuing joyous scenes in the away end.
The Toon Army took to Twitter to share their excitement at Willock ’s crafty equaliser.
@agbnufc: Willock deserves that. Been class lately.
@ellgraham777: Willock best player by a mile.
@AccursedFMGames: Decent first half and a well deserved goal for Willock who has played pretty well this first half! Keep it up!
@Zurrbs: Joe Willock has been unreal today.
@SaizudNUFC: Such a big boost for Willock that, he clearly ignored the haters last weekend.
@toon_army: Joe Willock has been outstanding so far. Best player on the pitch
@TFMick1892: Pleased for Willock … he’s been playing back into form and done well today.
Willock made the permanent move to the Magpies from Arsenal in the summer after having a stellar loan spell last season.
His temporary mid-season move in January 2021 saw him net eight goals for Newcastle as they staved off relegation.
The fans will be hoping he can rekindle that form once again as the club battles for survival again this term.
