Newcastle supporters have hailed Jonjo Shelvey's gesture as he is set to travel from Nottingham to watch Newcastle play in their Carabao Cup semi-final tie against Southampton.
Shelvey completed his Forest medical on Monday ahead of his move to the City Ground.
According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Shelvey will attend the Magpies' Carabao Cup home game as they look to book a place in the final of the competition. He will say his goodbyes to teammates and fans after a seven-year stint at St James' Park.
