Newcastle United are 'excited' about Yankuba Minteh and hope the summer signing will play for the club once he has a 'bit more development'.
That is according to Peter Ramage, Newcastle's assistant loans manager, who will be keeping a close eye on Minteh's progress at Feyenoord this season. Minteh has immediately been loaned out to the Eredivisie champions after joining the Magpies from Odense Boldklub (OB) last month.
Newcastle certainly did their homework on the highly-rated winger. Agent Bakary Bojang previously told ChronicleLive that Newcastle scouted Minteh 'a lot' and carried out 'good research' on his client, who was 'never in doubt that it was the place for him'.

Ramage was among those who personally watched Minteh play and the former Newcastle defender was clearly impressed by what he saw from the 18-year-old. Ramage said as much in a meeting with Minteh, Bojang and OB's top brass at the Danish side's training ground before the move was announced, which was captured in the latest episode of TV 2 documentary series 'Once Odense, always Odense'.
"We're excited for you to come," he said. "I started watching you in December when I first got told to put reports in and the way that the manager plays, we're an attacking football team now. We want to go fast-paced, high energy.
"Intensity is our identity as they say both with and without the ball and you seem to have that, certainly, in abundance. Hopefully, with a little bit more development, we can see you in a black and white jersey."
