Eddie Howe admits Newcastle United are still awaiting the green light for record signing Alexander Isak to make his debut. Elsewhere, the Magpies head coach has provided injury updates on Bruno Guimaraes and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Injury update
Newcastle United have been dealt a fresh injury blow after Allan Saint-Maximin sustained a hamstring injury at Wolves.
The French winger - who scored a wonderful equaliser and has been in sparkling early season form - pulled up after sprinting back to defend the goal that was chalked off for Wanderers after Ryan Fraser was fouled. But Howe does not see it as a serious problem - even if he is a doubt for the clash at Anfield.
Howe said: "Maxi is a worry for us at the moment with a hamstring. It was late in the game off the back of a sprint to try and save a goal."

Howe's transfer update
Eddie Howe has been asked about the final 48 hours of the summer transfer window - and is not refusing to rule out more transfers.
A thorough assessment on injuries in the aftermath of the Wolves game has taken place with Allan Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimaraes not classed as long-term absences. Callum Wilson's return next month will also ease fears of any injury crisis.
When asked about further recruitment, Howe said: "I don't expect to be, we are very pleased with the business we have done. As I say the injuries we have we believe to be short-term.

Isak latest
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe says it is still touch and go for Alexander Isak when it comes to making his debut at Liverpool. The Sweden international will travel to Merseyside and be part of the squad for the clash at Anfield.

Klopp prediction
Jurgen Klopp has predicted that Newcastle United will break into the top six if Eddie Howe is given time because the Magpies have 'everything' they need to do so.
You have to go back to 2012 for the last time Newcastle qualified for Europe for the one and only occasion in the Ashley era, but it was not so long ago that the black-and-whites were regularly mixing it with Liverpool et al at the top end of the Premier League. In fact, between 1994 and 2006, Newcastle finished in the top six on eight occasions.
Newcastle narrowly missed out on a place in the top 10 last season following a remarkable turnaround in the second half of the campaign and the club's new owners ultimately want to upset the established order in the coming years. Wednesday night's trip to Anfield to face Liverpool will be the latest acid test, but Klopp is sure Newcastle will get there one day.

Krafth on injury
Emil Krafth has revealed he was awaiting the diagnosis for his potentially season-ending injury as he welcomed Alexander Isak to Newcastle United. The record signing visited the training ground ahead of the deal being announced on Friday, and was filmed talking with his Sweden team-mate before the forward met Eddie Howe.
Krafth was awaiting news on his knee injury, having been stretchered off in the first-half of the midweek Carabao Cup win at Tranmere Rovers. The full-back suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament, and the 28-year-old is now facing a long road to recovery.
Krafth admitted it was a 'devastating' setback after sharing the news with supporters on social media. The defender has expressed his delight at Isak's decision to join the Magpies, but their reunion came with 'mixed feelings' as it came during his nervous wait for an update.

Howe on Clark transfer
Eddie Howe hopes that Newcastle United's lofty ambitions will prevent another situation like the one that saw Bobby Clark leave the club for Liverpool last year.
The controversial transfer of Newcastle's best youth player at the time came before Howe had taken over in the hotseat. The 17-year-old has made incredible progress since, starring in the Liverpool reserve team and then finding himself elevated to the senior squad under Jurgen Klopp.
Clark made his Premier League bow in the 9-0 thrashing of AFC Bournemouth last weekend and will be on the bench against Newcastle.
