Here are your top Newcastle United headlines for April 22.
Almiron 'in contention'
Miguel Almiron is in "contention" to start Newcastle United's encounter with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Paraguay captain played 34 minutes in the 3-0 defeat at Aston Villa and is now eyeing a start after shaking off a thigh problem. Eddie Howe is toying with the idea if restoring him to his front three against Spurs.
When asked what his role could be this weekend, Howe said: "He’s an option, I'd say he's in contention (to start)."

Howe's team talk
Eddie Howe hopes that the sense of the big occasion can "galvanise" his Newcastle United players on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur.
Howe has told his team to play with "no fear" in the sold out clash at St James' Park as a season's work lies on the line in the Champions League battle against faltering Spurs. Looking ahead to the game, Howe has been eager for big days like this in the Toon dugout.

Ashby and Krafth updates
Eddie Howe issued conflicting updates on Kieran Trippier's Newcastle United understudies, Harrison Ashby and Emil Krafth, ahead of the visit of Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Ashby was back in action earlier this week, finding the net for Newcastle's under-21's in the 4-3 win over Norwich City. The January addition is likely to be included in Howe's first-team plans between and the end of the season.
“He’s had a minor hamstring problem a couple of times, which has just dented his ability to train with us,” Howe said of Ashby. “Really pleased to see him come through (Monday’s) game. He played very well. He showed his qualities."

Schar and Botman
Newcastle United centre-backs Fabian Schar and Sven Botman have opened up about their defensive partnership ahead of this weekend's Premier League bout against Tottenham.
The Magpies suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa, a result which could halt their attempt at securing Champions League football for the rest of the season after what was a good run of form.
Eddie Howe's players, including the pair, won't think that way though, as signalled by his play-to-win admission in his pre-match press conference earlier this week.

Geremi's transfer view
Former Newcastle United captain Geremi has urged Declan Rice and Moussa Diaby to call him if they have any hesitation about joining the Magpies this summer. The pair are just a number of big name talents linked with a move to Tyneside this summer, with the duo the standout performer at their respective clubs.
Diaby has helped guide Bayer Leverkusen to the semi-final of the Europa League, while Rice is the standout English midfielder in the Premier League. The Hammers' talisman scored a remarkable solo goal in their win over KAA Gent in the Europa Conference League and helped David Moyes' side fight back to earn a point against Arsenal last weekend.
"Newcastle is a great team that is going in the right direction," Geremi told Lord Ping. "The fans are absolutely wonderful – they should not hesitate to join the club. If any Newcastle targets need any advice, they shouldn’t hesitate to call me!"
