Howe on January approach
Eddie Howe has spoken of the need to get "the chemistry" exactly right during the January transfer window.
Newcastle United go into their second winter trading period under new owners and it remains to be seen whether Howe is presented with a five-man quota of players like he was at the start of 2022. One thing is for sure, there is less urgency ahead of this year's January window.
But nevertheless, care and attention to detail are at the forefront of Howe's mind. Speaking in Saudi Arabia, the Magpies boss warned of the dangers of rushing in and buying players just for the sake of it.

Al-Rumayyan's welcome
Eddie Howe has revealed he felt humbled after he and his squad were welcomed to the home of Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan. The whole squad and co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi were present for the event on Monday night and Howe said the players were thrilled to be in his presence.
Howe told reporters in Riyadh: “Really, really special moment for the chairman to welcome us to his home. "It wasn’t underestimated by us, it was a really nice gesture.
"It’s not every day that you have that invitation, so we were humbled to accept it. He was really, really good with us, communicated his thoughts on and visions on the future.

Krafth's recovery
Emil Krafth may not play again this season after his horror knee injury suffered away to Tranmere Rovers back in August.
However, Eddie Howe wanted to make it clear he is still a big part of things for Newcastle United and the Sweden defender was one of the first names on his list for the plane that jetted over to Riyadh on Sunday. Krafth has been training in the gym and pool with some of his team-mates and has been an integral part of the group activities the Magpies have on the agenda in Saudi Arabia.

Brayson interview
Paul Brayson has literally lost count of how many at this stage. Can you blame the 45-year-old? Brayson has scored hundreds of goals at all levels, whether it is for Cardiff City in the Championship or Newcastle Benfield in the Northern Football League, and the striker is not finished yet.
While some elder statesmen might not relish a trip to Ashington on a cold Tuesday night, Brayson's love of the game remains undiminished and the former Newcastle United prospect has no plans to hang up his boots anytime soon.
"I'll know straight away," he told ChronicleLive. "I always tend to do pre-season and see what I'm like. If I thought I was struggling and it was my time, I would just be like, 'That's me. I'm away', but we did lots of testing last pre-season and I was up at the top.

Schar's substitution explained
Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar was suffering with illness during Switzerland's 6-1 World Cup defeat to Portugal on Tuesday evening, according to national team boss Murat Yakin. The centre-half was withdrawn at the half-time with the Swiss already trailing 2-0 in the Round of 16 clash.
Schar had also earned an early booking in the Qatar clash, with many supporters thinking it was a tactical decision to take him off so early. However, Yakin has moved to clarify why some of his stars struggled in the knockout clash.

Munoz latest
Santiago Munoz has been 'focused' on his comeback from a long-term injury despite facing an uncertain future at Newcastle United. That is the view of Magpies U21s boss Elliott Dickman, who insists a decision on the loanee's future will be confirmed in 'due course'.
Munoz's start to the new season has again been derailed by a injury setback, with the striker missing almost four months of action due to a groin complaint. The 20-year-old made his first appearance since August in Monday night's Premier League Cup home defeat to Sheffield United, coming on as a substitute for Isaac Westendorf.
Recent reports from Mexico suggest Newcastle have no interest in making the deal for Munoz permanent, with a return to Santos Laguna said to be 'imminent'. Dickman insists no decision has yet been taken, and has praised the loanee for his conduct amid the speculation.
