Newcastle budgie and parrot owners urged to register pets after Ouseburn Farm bird flu outbreak

Bird owners living within 3km of Ouseburn Farm are being asked to register their animals following an outbreak of bird flu.

The farm sadly lost all 50 of its birds, which includes chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese, after many became ill on Sunday, January 23.

The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) confirmed there had been an outbreak of bird flu at Ouseburn Farm on Tuesday, and a 3km exclusion zone and 10km surveillance zone have been put in place around the premises.
