Greggs, ham and pease pudding stotties, saveloy dip and Tudor crisps are all 'staples' of stereotypical Geordie cuisine.
A parmo, however, is most certainly not… as Deliveroo quickly found out on Monday afternoon!
The London-based food delivery service jokingly told Jesse Lingard he could have a parmo on the house if the Man Utd star opted to make a deadline-day move to Newcastle.
Deliveroo’s social media team had clearly not done their research as parmos famously originated from Teesside - almost 50 miles down the road.
Unfortunately for Middlesbrough fans, the England international is unlikely to be heading to the Riverside Stadium before the window slams shut and Newcastle fans were quick to correct the unforgivable mistake on Twitter.
Perhaps Deliveroo could offer Lingard an Earl’s Grey tea or a Newcastle Brown Ale if he does decide to sign for the Magpies.
@Markaccus: Parmo is a Smoggy delicacy. He isn't signing for Boro
@Mardgee: Parmo. Hahahah go back to bed. @GreggsOfficial get them told.
@JesmondTutu: Hey, @JustEatUK, could you tell @Deliveroo where Parmo comes from?
@PaulRobson666: Nice try. But that's a fail.
@yourboykweezy: You've had a mare here lads
@kedzz123: Didnt think Boro are in for him ?
@TonyBrannon: The famous dish of Teesside?
Some Boro fans saw the funny side and began to welcome the Red Devils’ star to the club.
@Adaaam93: Get in, Jesse Lingard is joining Boro
@rpburton: Lingard to boro confirmed
