Newcastle still have plenty of business to do in the transfer market if the news outlets in the United Kingdom, France and Portugal are to be believed.
The sighting of Amanda Staveley as a guest of Todd Boehly at Chelsea this weekend has sparked gossip that the Toon may be about to do some business with the London club.
Elsewhere Portuguese sources are reporting a deal with Benfica and in France a couple of targets appear to be slipping, or have slipped, off the radar at St James’s Park. Mirror Sport has rounded up the latest Newcastle transfer news, rumours and gossip.
Chelsea rendezvous
Rumours have sparked after Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi were spotted deep in conversation with a Chelsea executive at their firecracker with Spurs at Stamford Bridge. The pair were seen in conversation with Behdad Eghbali, who holds a similar position to theirs at the west London club. And according to The Athletic the possible signings of Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher and Callum Hudson-Odoi could have been on the menu.
Newcastle are still looking to further strengthen their first-team squad before the transfer window closes, with multiple sources at the club telling The Athletic they believe they are at least one attacking player short of where they want to be. Another Chelsea player, USA captain Christian Pulisic, who appears to have dropped down the pecking order at Chelsea, is also a potential loan target
Toon willing to cough up
Newcastle United are ready to meet Benfica’s asking price for forward Goncalo Ramos according to Portuguese website O Jogo. The 21-year-old is on the Magpies’ radar as Eddie Howe looks to strengthen his attacking options in the transfer window. Reports last week claimed Newcastle were leading the race to sign Romas and it seems that they are planning to confirm their interest in the coming days. O Jogo suggests a bid could be forthcoming for the Portugal under-21 star this week.

French youngsters slip away
French newspaper L’Equipe are reporting that Lille have beaten Newcastle to the signature of Sochaux talent Alan Virginius. The highly-rated youngster, 19, has attracted attracted interest from some big European clubs this summer after starring for Sochaux in the second tier of French football. And Newcastle were keen to bring the youngster to St James’s Park as a development player. He has clocked up 50 senior outings for Sochaux. 46 of those games have come in Ligue 2. The 15-time France Under-19 international, has entered the final 12 months of his contract and Sochaux have cashed in for a fee believed to be £4.2m.
L'Equipe also claim that Newcastle transfer target Bamba Dieng has interest from several clubs as doubts continue to be cast over his future at Marseille. They claim the Ligue 1 giants are ready to sell the Senegal international and are looking for an offer above £10million. The newspaper have suggested Dieng would like to remain in France to ‘continue his progress’ Both Nice and Lorient have an interest in taking the striker on loan, with a permanent deal to follow at a later date.
