New Zealand's iconic All Blacks rugby squad spotted in Stirling ahead of Scotland showdown

Some of world rugby’s best players were spotted this week visiting Stirling’s most popular landmarks.

Members of New Zealand’s iconic All Blacks rugby squad visited the city ahead of their clash with Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday.

The towering stars posed for team photos at Stirling Castle and The National Wallace Monument on Monday afternoon in gale force winds and pouring rain.

The squad then enjoyed a spot of lunch at a popular city restaurant. The Portcullis, in Castle Wynd, took to social media to say: “Thank you to the All Blacks for popping in for lunch today. We hope you enjoyed your visit.

“We wish you well for the game at the weekend but obviously hope you don’t win!”

They had just arrived in Scotland after dismantling Wales 55-23 at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff, on Saturday. That came after they edged out Japan in Tokyo the week prior.

The All Blacks could be lining up against former Stirling County player Murphy Walker, who made his Scotland debut at the weekend. He was a regular in the Stirling Wolves Super 6 team. He was also on the academy pathway which saw him train with Glasgow Warriors and he secured his professional contract with Glasgow Warriors in January 2022.
