Legendary New York City theater Carnegie Hall is set to celebrate the vibrant influence of Latin culture in the United States with three highly anticipated concerts as part of its 2024–2025 Nuestros Sonidos festival. This event will showcase the rich sounds, pioneering rhythms, and diverse traditions that have made Latin music a cornerstone of the American musical landscape.
This season's lineup includes reggaetón superstar Ivy Queen, salsa orchestra Grupo Niche, and uber orchestra director Gustavo Dudamel. Other artists included are Monsieur Periné, Cinemafunk, and Quetzal.
"The festival will present a diverse array of musical styles, including salsa, bachata, Latin jazz, reggaeton, hip-hop, Tejano, and classical music, and will emphasize the revolutionary contributions and ongoing evolution of Latin music from the 1930s to the present, focusing on genres that have flourished in the U.S.", the organizers told the Latin Times.
Reggaetón and salsa
Known as the "Queen of Reggaeton, " Ivy Queen will make her Carnegie Hall debut on November 20 at 8:00 p.m. Performing on the Perelman Stage of the Stern Auditorium, Ivy Queen, who won the 2023 Billboard Icon Award, will bring her powerful messages of empowerment and self-determination to this iconic venue. Her influence extends beyond reggaeton, encompassing salsa, bachata, hip-hop, and more, making her a trailblazer in the music industry.
On April 17 at 8:00 p.m., legendary Colombian salsa band Grupo Niche will debut on the Perelman Stage of the Stern Auditorium. Originating from Cali, the "Salsa Capital of the World," Grupo Niche has created salsa classics since the late 1970s. Timeless hits like "Cali Pachanguero" and "Una Aventura" remain concert staples, while their recent Latin GRAMMY®-winning albums highlight their continued musical evolution.
Monsieur Periné to Bring Eclectic Sounds to Zankel Hall
The Bogotá-based band Monsieur Periné will take the stage at Zankel Hall on February 22 at 7:30 p.m. The band, which won the 2023 Latin GRAMMY for Best Alternative Album, is known for its innovative fusion of Latin American and European rhythms. Their vibrant and ingenious sound has garnered a global following, making them one of the most exciting emerging acts in Latin music.
Nuestros Sonidos Festival at Carnegie Hall
In addition to Ivy Queen, Monsieur Periné, and Grupo Niche, the festival will feature:
- Gustavo Dudamel conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic from October 8-10, including the world premiere of a new work by Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz.
- Soprano Lisette Oropesa performing Cuban compositions on October 23 at Zankel Hall.
- Grammy-winning group Quetzal showcasing Chicano musical traditions on November 15 at Zankel Hall.
- A joint performance by Roomful of Teeth and Mexico's Tambuco Percussion Ensemble on January 25 at Zankel Hall.
- Jazz vocalist Claudia Acuña performing Latin American classics on February 7 at Zankel Hall.
- The American Composers Orchestra presenting music from Latin America on March 6 at Zankel Hall.
- Performances by Cuban-American soprano Elena Villalón on November 13 and Nicaraguan-American soprano Gabriella Reyes on April 29 at Weill Recital Hall.
- Mexican pianist and composer Arturo O'Farrill with the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra on April 11 at Zankel Hall, and Grammy-winning Cuban groups Cimafunk and La Tribu on May 22 at Zankel Hall.
The festival will also feature free neighborhood concerts, wellness concerts, interactive family events, and exclusive live-streamed content on Carnegie Hall+. In spring 2025, the celebration will extend beyond Carnegie Hall with public events hosted by New York's leading cultural institutions, including art exhibitions, dance performances, and film screenings.

Tickets for Ivy Queen and Grupo Niche range from $52 to $160 and are already available. Individual tickets for all festival concerts will go on sale on August 12.
