New York Fashion Week's official September 2026 schedule opens Thursday, September 10, and runs through Tuesday, September 15, kicking off six days of Spring/Summer 2027 collections across roughly 70 runway shows and presentations on the CFDA's preliminary calendar. Ralph Lauren gets a jump on the week with a Spring 2027 presentation on Wednesday, September 9, one day ahead of the official opening.
The season's opening slot belongs to Diane von Furstenberg, where Henry Zankov will present his first collection as the house's new artistic director. Zankov, a CFDA member who previously worked with the label more than a decade ago, was named to the role in May 2026, making his September 10 show one of the week's most closely watched debuts. The week closes on the opposite end of the calendar with Thom Browne on September 15, a familiar bookend for a designer who has closed the season before.
This is also the first NYFW season under a new CFDA policy that prohibits animal fur from collections appearing on the official schedule, a rule announced in late 2025 with a limited exemption for fur obtained by Indigenous communities through traditional subsistence hunting. It puts the week at the center of an ongoing conversation about material sourcing and sustainability just as attention turns to what's actually on the runway.
The lineup blends established American labels with a notable wave of newcomers. Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera and Calvin Klein Collection anchor the schedule alongside Diane von Furstenberg and Thom Browne, while Monse, threeASFOUR and Tommy Hilfiger return to the official calendar this season. Ten designers and brands are showing on the CFDA schedule for the first time, including Conner Ives, Magda Butrym, Sabyasachi (from designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee), Benjamin Seidler, Grey's by Emily Grey, High Sport by Alissa Zachary, Hikari no Yami by Jakarie Whitaker, Max Esmail, Patrick Taylor and Zaldy. The additions of Magda Butrym and Sabyasachi in particular bring two internationally established names into New York's official rotation for the first time.

The week also gives a bigger platform to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund's current class. Bad Binch TongTong (designed by Terrence Zhou), Jamie Haller and Milamore (by George Inaki) appear on the official schedule for the first time as 2026 finalists, joining fellow finalists Aisling Camps, Amir Taghi, Lii (by Zane Li) and Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen, giving the week a meaningful concentration of emerging talent alongside its established anchors.
According to the CFDA, this season's collections arrive as the United States marks its 250th anniversary, and the organization has framed the week's design output around themes of the city's grit, individuality and resourcefulness across both heritage labels and newer names. Whether that framing shows up literally on the runway or simply as a backdrop to the week remains to be seen once the shows begin.
Beyond the official CFDA calendar, independent producers are staging their own shows across the same six days, meaning the full scope of what's presented during New York Fashion Week extends well past the roughly 70 shows on the preliminary schedule. For FashionTimes readers, the week ahead offers a full arc: an artistic-director debut to open, a wave of first-time official designers to watch mid-week, and Thom Browne's closing show to send off the season, with street style, front-row moments and celebrity appearances expected to build throughout.
