New York City overwhelmed by record-breaking surge of migrants

Congresswoman criticizes Biden's open border policy and calls it "completely unsustainable."

In a recent report, it was revealed that the number of migrants crossing the border reached an astonishing 241,000 in just one month. This surge in illegal immigration has raised concerns among many, including New York Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, who serves on both the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Ways and Means Committee.

The congresswoman expressed her dismay at the situation, pointing out that these migrants are now asking President Joe Biden for help, as if they are entitled to it. Malliotakis emphasized that the president's decision to open the border has essentially obligated him to provide assistance to these individuals. She questioned why Biden did not reinstate Title 42, a policy that would require migrants to remain in Mexico while going through the legal process.

Malliotakis highlighted the sense of entitlement among some migrants, noting that the president has prioritized them over American citizens and those who have been patiently waiting in the legal immigration system. She argued that it is unfair to schedule asylum appointments for those who entered the country illegally before those who have followed the proper procedures for years.

Apart from the fairness issue, the congresswoman raised concerns about the safety and sustainability of this mass migration. With ineffective vetting processes in place, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the identities and backgrounds of these individuals. Additionally, the strain on cities like New York is significant, as the mayor continues to provide free housing and services to migrants, while neglecting the needs of American citizens.

In fact, the city of New York has been grappling with its own migrant crisis, as over 150,000 people have arrived in less than two years. The arrival of these migrants has thrown the city into chaos, with missed opportunities exacerbating the situation. This influx has been further highlighted by the record number of migrants signing up for New York City identification cards, which paves the way for them to become residents.

One major concern raised by Malliotakis is that many of these migrants lack proper documentation and are now being provided with legitimate government identification cards. This not only gives them access to city buildings and schools but may also contribute to their registration to vote. Contracts for migrant shelters stipulate that all individuals at the facility must be registered to vote, without specifying citizenship requirements.

The congresswoman underscored the need to address these issues promptly, as failing to do so would perpetuate an illegal workforce at the expense of taxpayers. She called for a more balanced approach that prioritizes the well-being and interests of American citizens, while still embracing legal immigration.

In addition to the migrant crisis, Northwestern University has also faced backlash in recent weeks, adding to the growing concerns in the education sector.
