New York City has begun removing more than 10,000 low‑income children from its Child Care Assistance Program voucher waitlist, City Hall and the Administration for Children's Services (ACS) announced on Monday, reopening access to subsidised childcare for the first time in 15 months.
The move, backed by state and city funding, will give eligible families vouchers that cover the cost of licensed childcare for children from six weeks to 13 years old, and up to 19 for those with special needs.
