A New York appeals court is set to hear oral arguments on September 26 regarding Donald Trump's appeal of a $454 million civil judgment against him. However, it is unlikely that a decision will be reached by Election Day.
Trump is seeking to have the judgment thrown out by the First Department appellate division, which found him liable for fraud and ordered him to pay $354 million plus interest, totaling over $100 million.
In his legal filings, Trump contends that no one suffered harm, argues that the judgment is unconstitutional, and asserts that the case should not have been pursued due to the age of the alleged conduct.
The New York attorney general's office is expected to submit its response by Wednesday.
Back in April, Trump posted a $175 million bond after the appeals court reduced the initial bond amount. This bond has temporarily halted any actions that the New York Attorney General Letitia James' office could take to seize properties or bank accounts.
