Scottie Scheffler’s arrest at the PGA Championship is still sending shockwaves through the golf world, despite it happened weeks ago at this point.
We’ve seen various videos showing what happened in Louisville at Valhalla Golf Club, including footage that may contradict what the police reports said.
Now, Golf Digest’s Alex Myers unearthed a video that’s been on Facebook for a few days — we can’t verify exactly where it’s from (although we’ve reached out to the person who posted it), but by the looks of the end of it, it’s possible the footage was streamed from court.
The video appears to show Scheffler speaking with a police officer, breaking down the incident that led to his arrest. He explained that he was coming to work out before his Friday tee time, and when he arrived at the gates, he didn’t know it was a police officer who had stopped him. He thought it was a security guard.
“Stop right there,” the officer remarked. “Why would it matter if he’s a security guard or a police officer, if someone’s telling you to stop?”
Scheffler agreed and there’s a back-and-forth about what the officers were wearing and the confusion, along with the scrapes and “big bruise” that the other officer suffered:
A video on Facebook since May 23 captures Scottie Scheffler's conversation in police car after arrest. "You're right, I should have stopped. I did get a little impatient because I'm quite late for my tee time." Cop says he "drug" and "hurt" officer. https://t.co/R4YtBZ2Wg3 pic.twitter.com/IosEtwj2tZ

Steve Romines, the attorney for Scheffler, will be present at a hearing on Wednesday. Here’s what the status of those charges are at the moment, per CNN:
Romines on Tuesday reiterated to CNN that Scheffler’s position is the charges should be dismissed or he will go to trial without a plea deal. The Louisville-based attorney wouldn’t say whether a resolution has been reached or whether charges will be dropped Wednesday. He has scheduled a news conference for just 30 minutes after the court hearing begins.
