The legal team representing four legacy benefits claimants’ who lost a High Court challenge in February over the £20 weekly Universal Credit uplift, have had their application to appeal the decision rejected.
However, the fight for arrears payments worth more than £1,500 will continue.
One of the litigant’s involved in the case confirmed to the Daily Record that their legal team has now filed an application with the Court of Appeal seeking permission to appeal the judge’s ruling which found that people receiving legacy benefits should not be given the same £20 weekly uplift that was paid to millions of Universal Credit claimants during the coronavirus pandemic.
