New Star Wars book hints at a time skip between The Mandalorian season 3 and The Mandalorian and Grogu

Grogu uses the Force in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be blasting onto our screens very soon – and, by the sounds of things, there'll be a time skip since we last saw the titular duo.

In The Mandalorian season 3 ending, Din Djarin and Din Grogu settle on Nevarro. According to new Star Wars book The Mandalorian: The Visual Guide (via The HoloFiles), Mando and Grogu have "grown quite comfortable on Nevarro between assignments" and have "made a life for themselves." That certainly sounds like we might be jumping ahead a little bit on the Star Wars timeline.

Now, what that actually means for the movie remains to be seen, since it looks to be pretty standalone. But, with Ahsoka bringing Grand Admiral Thrawn back to the main galaxy – along with Ezra Bridger – there could be wider galactic goings on that influence the plot of this film. We'll just have to wait and see.

One thing we do know about the new film, though, is that Pedro Pascal's Mando will be removing his helmet. "When we got to that part, all I can say is that it made perfect sense, and it was what I was hoping would be the reason," Pascal said of taking off that Beskar headgear. "If I were to pitch something, I would say, 'The only thing that makes sense is...' And that's exactly it. He filled that blank. I said immediately, 'Jon [Favreau, director], that's exactly what I was hoping to hear!'"

The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives on May 22. In the meantime, Maul – Shadow Lord is currently dropping two episodes a week on Disney Plus. You can keep up with our Maul – Shadow Lord release schedule.
