New Star Wars book features Rey and Ben Solo crumbs – but it will be enough to make Reylos everywhere happy

Rey and Ben Solo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

A new Star Wars book includes some insight into Rey's thinking – and even pays tribute to Ben Solo. The newly released 'Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith: The Chronicles of Emperor' Palpatine is an update to the reference book first published in 2021, and sees Rey speak about the Sith.

Shared on X by a reader, it features Rey writing about her connection to Emperor Palpatine, who it was revealed was her grandfather in The Rise of Skywalker. "Palpatine's words may have made the dark side sound enticing at moments, but no power – no matter how absolute – is worth your soul," she writes in a section called 'End of the Line'.

"Fortunately, while I may have inherited his blood in my veins, I didn't inherit the hatred in his heart. It helped that I had people like Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Finn… even Ben… to remind me of the truth. Every one of us has both the light and dark within us. It's up to us whether we let that light shine or let the darkness take hold."

At the end of The Rise of Skywalker, Ben Solo shed his Kylo Ren persona and turned to the light side. He then sacrificed himself to save Rey, using the Force to heal her wounds after the battle with Palpatine on Exegol. There was a hint of romance between the characters as they shared a kiss, much to the joy of the Reylo fandom who are still extremely active now.

On screen, Rey's storyline was set to continue in a standalone film announced back at 2023's Star Wars Celebration. However, that film has faced multiple delays and its development is uncertain at the moment. Meanwhile, Adam Driver revealed he pitched a Ben Solo standalone movie as well, but it was rejected by Disney.

Next up on the big screen for the galaxy far, far away is The Mandalorian and Grogu, which arrives on May 22, 2026. Beyond that, check out our list of all the upcoming Star Wars shows and movies on the way.
