A rum liqueur company has announced plans to open a cocktail bar in south Manchester.
Witch Kings Rum, which started life during the pandemic in 2020, will open their first bar in Levenshulme in August. The venue will take over the former premises of vegetarian restaurant The Gherkin on Slade Lane.
Bosses have promised the new cocktail bar will feature artisan drinks, fresh fruit rum liqueurs, cocktails, mocktails, beers and ciders. There will also be live music and a light bites food menu.

The cocktail bar will also serve an in-house brewed Tepache, a cold beverage originally from Mexico which is made from fermented fruit - usually pineapple.
Co-owners Maxi Tin-Bradbury and Brandon Bissell started Witch Kings three years ago. Their base rum is a blend of white rums from Salford Rum and Ninefold Distillery, which is then infused with a host of unique fresh and premium ingredients.
The brand has worked with the likes of Speak In Code, Factory Coffee Manchester, Seven Bro7hers Beerhouse and GRUB. It has also appeared at Levenshulme Market and Manchester Rum Festival.
Speaking about the upcoming bar, the duo said: “After years of seeking a site where we can run our cocktail bar concept more permanently, we have finally secured a dream location.
“Witch Kings Rum will be taking over 312 Slade Lane (fka The Gherkin), bringing our liquid flavour art to Levenshulme. We've got a lot more work to do before we can open the doors, for we shall be re-inventing the space - and expanding our menu!
“Our retail business so far has centred around fresh fruit rum liqueurs and syrups, while our events side has always tried to ensure an inclusive range of cocktails, mocktails, beers, ciders, live music & more.
“There are so many more creations we can't wait for you to try that just haven't been practical without a permanent site, from a whole spectrum of new artisan flavour journeys, to a light bites food menu, to in-house brewed Tepache
“This new venture will have nothing to do with the previous ownership or management of The Gherkin; however, we still hope to become an integral part of the Levenshulme community.”
