RTE are launching a brand new Irish series to sort out rows and dramas between families and friends.
The new series, titled ‘Hear Me Out’, is calling for pairs of friends, acquaintances, and family members to come forward with ‘trivial arguments and family drama’ to solve on air.
But it is understood the family feud programme has been pitched as a comedy rather than a Jeremy Kyle style show, as insiders said it will be ‘light-hearted’ with a panel of ‘comedy critics’ leading the on air debates.
A call out for the show reads: “Ever had a gripe or argument with a friend/ family member/ partner and wanted a second opinion on ‘who’s in the wrong here?’
“Let our panel of comedy critics hear both sides of the story and ultimately decide who is a ‘gobshite’ and who ‘is in the right’ for the filming of our brand new pilot series ‘Hear Me Out’.”
The show is an RTE pilot project, with The Lab, which was established by the national broadcaster in 2019 to create, curate and commission original video content specifically for the RTÉ Player.
The creative team, has since brought popular shows such as comedy skit show The Doireann Project and more recently, The Talk, which showcased open and honest conversations about real life issues like racism, body image, IVF and Surrogacy.
Both went on to air on RTE2 after launching on the Player.
And whilst it is early days, Hear Me Out could follow suit and also make its way onto TV screens if it proves successful.
For those interested in airing their grievances on the show, all you have to do is email hearmeout@rte.ie with whatever your conflict may be.
Detailing the types of issues they are looking for, they added: “Sister stole your top but claims you said she could have it? Housemate doesn’t do their end of the cleaning because they say they’re too busy? Partner forgotten your anniversary but says you usually remind them?
“Well, whatever it is, ‘Hear Me Out’ can provide you with the mediation you need in a weird and wonderful way.”
