New plans have been revealed to crack down on drivers rat running through a South Gosforth estate.
Newcastle City Council has announced new measures to reduce the number of vehicles cutting through the Five Admirals Estate, near Jesmond Dene, in order to dodge traffic on the busy Matthew Bank and Jesmond Dene Road. The proposals, the latest in a series of ‘low traffic neighbourhoods’ launched across the city, are due to be imposed on a trial basis starting on February 6.
They will include banning drivers from turning into Beatty Avenue off Matthew Bank and “improving junctions” for residents accessing Sturdee Gardens and Beatty Avenue from Jesmond Dene Road.
