New restaurant for Nottingham part of latest plans for city

A wide-range of projects were applied for and given the go-ahead last week throughout Nottinghamshire. A range of new plans were also submitted to Nottingham City Council, Gedling Borough Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council, making in the week ending June 10.

Two of the most significant were the approval of the next step of a city centre restaurant and the greenlight given for a hair and beauty salon in Gedling. Elsewhere, plans to create a HMO in Rushcliffe was given the go-ahead.

Indian takeaway in Alfreton Road

Plans were put forward last week for a new Indian takeaway in Alfreton Road. The restaurant will replace a former barber shop.

If approved by Nottingham City Council, the food outlet will be positioned at 58 Alfreton Road, Nottingham, NG7 3NN.

3-storey apartment block to replace social club

Plans have also been submitted for the demolition of St Joseph's Social Club in Ashfield - to be replaced by a brand-new apartment building. Six terraced and four semi-detached family houses will also be built to the rear of the apartment block.

Added facilities such as a car park, bin and cycle stores and private gardens are also planned to be in place. A design and access statement for the plans read: "The application site is located at the Sutton-in-Ashfield town centre, bounded on the east, west and southby terraced and semidetached houses.

New 11-person HMO in Rushcliffe

Plans were also submitted last week for a 11-person house of multiple occupation. The HMO is set to replace an office building in Loughborough Road, West Bridgford.

However, the plans have been recommended for rejection by Joshua Milsom, a sustainable places planning advisor, due to significant risk of flooding. In a letter to Rushcliffe Borough Council, he wrote: The application site lies within Flood Zone 3A, which is land defined by the planning practice guidance as having a high probability of flooding."

Extra student accommodation planned in Broxtowe

Plans to add six new bedrooms at a student accommodation in Broxtowe have been been put forward. An extension to the existing Purpose Built Student Accommodation was validated on June 28 at 2 Broadway, Nottingham.
